Megan and Dad took a trip to Washington D.C. to see the sights:
We arrived Friday, September 24th and visited the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. Megan is behind the Wright Flyer. We were surprised to learn this was the actual airplane flown in 1903.
Saturday morning we took a tour of the White House. No cameras are allowed inside. We also spent some time at the National Museum of American History.
Later we hung out on the National Mall and Megan had to hug the Washington Monument.
Later that evening, we took a bus tour of the White House, WWII Memorial, The Lincoln Memorial, The Vietnam Memorial, The Jefferson Memorial, and the Iwo Jima Statue outside Arlington National Cemetery. Below, Megan between the pillars of the Jefferson Memorial.
Sunday afternoon, we went to the top of the Washington Monument. Not a whole lot happening inside, but very nice view. You take an elevator up to the 500’ level and take the stairs down 1 flight to load the elevator that goes down. No longer can you take the stairs all the way down to the bottom.
Megan had a lot of fun and saw some neat stuff in Washington, but it was ALOT of walking. Thankfully, they had a lot of benches to sit on.
